The Torbay Lodge started trading way back in the 1961! (we think?)

Originally built in 1862 – 31 Lovers Walk, Dumfries has been (from what we have worked out from previous guests and owners) successfully trading as a busy town centre guest house since around 1961.

Dumfries Postcard - taken sometime in the 1950s or 1960s?

One guest told us the house was her family home in the 1950s but she had no idea when it became the Torbay Lodge Guest House or indeed the origins of its name. I have tried to speak with previous owners and guests (we have regular guests who have been coming here since the early 1970s) but nobody is quite sure of the origins of the name.
